The reason for this letter is to let you know how we feel about our experience with Ballard Durand Funeral Home, and especially the service provided by Matthew Fiorillo during a very difficult time for our family. We met with Matthew and his assistant and they could not have been any kinder in helping us make these arrangements for Danny. Matthew did provide us a wonderful group of pallbearers who were more professional and amazing as I have ever seen. I believe they were retired fireman and they performed their service with the utmost respect and dignity. It was as if Danny was a member of their own family. After the Mass, when we arrived at the cemetery, the last thing on my mind was the Honor Guard, but almost as soon as we arrived at the gravesite, there they were! I could hardly believe my eyes, nor could the rest of our family who knew how much we wanted this final tribute for Danny who had served for many years, and truly loved his country. The final amazing surprise was that not only had Matthew been able to accomplish this request for us, but in addition, he had Danny’s casket engraved with his name and Army Seal! I could not contain my sincere emotions for this beautiful ceremony from start to finish. Danny would have been so proud, and my husband and I will always remember how Matthew and Ballard Durand saw that Danny was laid to rest in a way that was well deserved. We can never thank them enough except to tell everyone we know that in a time of such loss of a loved one, they can certainly depend on Ballard Durand to make their experience easier and the burden lighter.

I'm not sure of the workings of other funeral homes, but, Ballard-Durand has to be a leader in caring about families who trust you for your services. I will, highly recommend you. Dear Marisol, When we came to meet with you at Ballard-Durand, less than 10 hours after my mother died, you received us with respect and graciousness. Our world had just shattered and we were numb with grief. I am writing on behalf of the Robinson family to thank you for your extraordinary kindness, compassion and expertise in helping us with the arrangements for Mom's funeral. At Kol Ami and Sharon Gardens you had all the details arranged and we had complete confidence in you as everything went beautifully. Your availability to us a week after the funeral when we had questions is an example of what distinguishes you in your work. We experienced your genuine caring as you so generously gave of your time to help us. We will always remember you with gratitude and warmth.

Naturally, making funeral arrangements for a loved one is never any easy task. However, Matt's genuine compassion and sincerity helped make this process much easier to get through. Matt treated us in a way that made us feel like we were a part of his own family. He was extremely professional, yet very empathetic as well. His attention to detail and perfectionism in all he does was apparent and very much appreciated. Things could not have gone more smoothly, or any better. Everything was flawless. As mentioned, Matt is a stickler for details and it shown through in every aspect of the wake, funeral and burial services. The entire staff at Ballard-Durand was polite and professional. The building, and the rooms within, are well kept, immaculate and comforting. We could not have been more pleased with the service and treatment we received. Everything that Matt and the staff did made for a very memorable, loving final tribute to my Mom. I know she was looking down and proud and pleased with everything as well. We also heard from Matt several times after. Matt sent a most beautiful, handwritten, sympathy card on behalf of himself and his staff, and also sent a gorgeous prayer card, with my mom's obituary that appeared in the local newspaper laminated on the back. Following up afterwards, and these thoughtful gestures really speak volumes to how caring Matt is, and the genuine passion he has for his business, which I believe sets him far above other local funeral homes.

I just want to take a few minutes to say how grateful I was to use Ballard-Durand. Matt and all of his staff were professional, courteous, and very sympathetic during a difficult time. I used them for both my mother and grandmother. Honestly, they both looked their best when I had to say good bye. I would recommend Ballard to anyone.

Dominick at Ballard-Durand is a special man. He went above and beyond what was required of him and we felt well cared from the moment we first spoke to him on the phone to his final follow up call after our father's funeral... We faced a few difficult and extremely upsetting issues with the cemetery, right out the gate, but Dominick fought tirelessly for us. The first day of battling these ridiculous and unnecessary issues with the cemetery, it was an 11.5 hour day... Dominick was with us every step of the way.. until we received his phone call after 8pm that everything was taken care of. He knew how hurt and tired we were so he stayed on top of the issue and made sure to call us even though he was clocked out... Because of his help, people were finally able to book flights.. we were able to move forward with cremation and burial plans.. He really saved the day and my family was overjoyed to hear that we didn't have another couple days of fighting ahead of us. When he wasn't scheduled to work the following day, he made sure the rest of the staff at Ballard-Durand were well aware of the issues we had and made sure we knew what next steps were until we saw him again at the crematory. His professionalism of absolutely stellar. In addition to being amazing at his job, Dominick's emotional IQ is off the charts. He simply knew how to read us. He was patient, he always knew the right things to say to make us feel better. My sister even wanted to set him up with her single friend... Ladies, if you're looking for a sensitive man who gets things done... go find Dominick at Ballard-Durand. ;)
